A road manager, also known as a tour manager or roadie, is responsible for coordinating and managing the logistical aspects of touring for musicians, bands, or other performing artists. Their main role is to ensure that all aspects of the tour run smoothly, from travel arrangements to equipment setup and breakdown. They work closely with the artist or band, as well as venues, promoters, and other team members, to ensure that all shows are executed successfully.
The road manager's tasks may include booking accommodations, arranging transportation, managing budgets, organizing crew schedules, overseeing load-in and load-out of equipment, coordinating with sound and lighting technicians, and handling any unforeseen issues that may arise during the tour.
